Andy Shauf Information
Andy Shauf is a Canadian songwriter and singer. He was born in Estevan, Saskatchewan, and grew up in Bienfait. Shauf’s parents ran a music and electronics store. In his childhood, he used to play Christian music with his parents.
Until 2006, Shauf played drums in the Christian pop-punk band called “Captain.” His debut album was released in 2009 entitled “Darker Days.” He also followed up with some of the successful EPs named “Waiting for the Sun to Leave (2010) and Same Jones Feeds His Demons (2012). Shauf signed with ANTI- internationally and Arts & Crafts Productions in Canada. He released his non-album single on both the labels as his first release entitled; “Jenny Come Home.” The single was also a breakthrough on Canadian Radio. It charted on both CBC Radio 2 and CBC Radio 3 for Radio 2 Top 20.
Shauf toured Europe as an opening act for The Lumineers in early 2016. In April, he moved from Saskatchewan to Toronto. In May, he released another hit album, “The Party.” One of his songs, “Wendell Walker” from the album The Bearer of Bad News, was shortlisted in the SOCAN Songwriting Prize in 2016. The album “The Party” got shortlisted in the 2016 Polaris Music Prize.
Andy Shauf has released several projects so far, including a few hit EPs such as Tour EP (2009), Four Songs (2009), Waiting for the Sun to Leave (2010), and Sam Jones Feeds His Demons (2012). His studio albums include Love and the Memories of It, Grandpa Songs, Darker Days, and The Neon Skyline. Shauf has won two awards so far in his career, including Western Canadian Music Awards for “Producer of the Year” in 2013 and “Pop Artist of the Year” in 2017.
