Amy Grant Information
Amy Lee Grant (November 25, 1960) is an American musician, singer, and songwriter born in Augusta, Georgia. Grant first appeared in the public eye as a teenager and rose to prominence in the Christian music scene of the 1980s with the release of songs like "El Shaddai," "Father's Eyes," and "Angels." After the success of the albums Unguarded and Lead Me On in the mid-1980s, she began to attract a wider audience. Eventually, she became one of the first CCM performers to enter mainstream pop.
She was the first Christian album to hit platinum in 2009, and by that time she had sold over 30 million albums globally, received six Grammys, and 22 Dove Awards from the Gospel Music Association. She received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2006 and was subsequently named a recipient of the Kennedy Center Honors for her work in the entertainment business in 2022.
Grant underwent open-heart surgery in June 2020 to correct a congenital cardiac defect called partial anomalous pulmonary venous return (PAPVR). Grant was hurt and admitted to the hospital for a short time on July 27, 2022, when she fell from her bike while riding near the Harpeth Hills Golf Course in Nashville. She had a few scrapes and a couple of cuts.
