Clarice Jensen, cello and artistic director of the American Contemporary Music Ensemble (ACME), has led the group to the forefront of new American music since 2004 with a combination of exquisite musicianship, aesthetic vision, exciting partnerships, and uncompromising standards.
Some of the brightest young stars in the field are members of the undefined group. "Contemporary music dynamos," as NPR puts it, and "ACME's engrossing playing pumped with warm energy," as Strings writes. It was as if they had learned it at the Jedi academy; a simple glance or breath from one another would set off the next step in a seamless flow. As part of its 10th-anniversary celebration in 2015, ACME was recognized by ASCAP for the "virtuosity, enthusiasm, and commitment with which it performs and celebrates American composers."
The group has appeared at festivals like the Sacrum Profanum Festival in Poland and All Tomorrow's Parties in England. The Auckland Arts Festival in New Zealand and at prestigious venues like Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, BAM, The Kennedy Center, UCLA's Royce Hall, Stanford Live, Chicago's Millennium Park, STG Presents in Seattle, Melbourne Recital Hall, and the Sydney Opera House.
