Allie X Information
Alexandra Ashley Hughes (July 31, 1985) is a Canadian singer, visual artist, and songwriter better known as Allie X. Her birthplace was Oakville, Ontario. She started as an independent pop musician in Toronto in the middle of the 2000s, performing with neighborhood bands and writing and producing a few albums that she self-released.
Hughes started working with producers Cirkut and Billboard after moving to Los Angeles, California, in 2013. She succeeded with "Catch," her debut single released under the moniker Allie X, which peaked at number 55 on the Canadian Hot 100 list and was well-received by music reviewers. Hughes, a soprano with a soprano vocal range, has seen her music frequently compared to Chvrches, The Knife, and British vocalist Ellie Goulding.
The song gained popularity after pop star Katy Perry shared it on social media as her "spring jam." CollXtion I, Hughes' first extended play, was released in 2015. CollXtion II, her first studio album, was then released in 2017, and Super Sunset in 2018. She further published an analog edition of Super Sunset in 2019. Cape God, her second studio album, was released on February 21, 2020.
