Alexandra Kay Information
Lexi Krekorian, better known by her stage name, Alexandra Kay, was born in Missouri and grew up in Waterloo, Illinois. She started writing songs when she was 15 years old and singing in commercials soon after. After trying out for American Idol in 2011, she signed with Network Entertainment, an indie record label, in 2013 and released her first single, "No More," the following year.
Before her late-2010s shift to the country, Kay was well-established in St. Louis's R&B and hip-hop scenes. Her style and vocals are reminiscent of Alison Krauss, Dolly Parton, and Lee Ann Womack.
In 2021, she published her first EP, Dive Bar Dreamer, and in 2022, her singles "Backroad Therapy" and "That's What Love Is." catapulted her to widespread popularity. The following year, she released her first long-player, All I've Ever Known, capitalizing on that popularity.
She auditioned for The Voice in 2017 but was unsuccessful in her attempts to win over judges Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Jennifer Hudson, and Miley Cyrus.
Despite her disappointment, Kay remained determined and began posting country covers on her social media website, where she soon gained many fans and streams. The executive producer of the Los Angeles reality program Westside, which follows nine aspiring singers and composers, took notice of her performance of "Jolene" by Dolly Parton.
