Albert Castiglia Information
Albert Castiglia (August 12, 1969) is an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He was born in New York City. He relocated to Miami, Florida, with his family when he was five years old and began learning the guitar seven years later. In 1990, Castiglia joined the Miami Blues Authority, and in 1997, the Miami New Times called him the "greatest blues guitarist in Miami." Castiglia worked as a social services investigator for Florida for four years after graduating from college. Junior Wells discovered him singing in 1996 and invited him to join his touring band, where he served as Wells' lead guitarist until the latter died in 1998.
Burn, his first solo album, was self-released in 2004, followed by The Bittersweet Sessions, a collaboration with Graham Wood Drout, in 2006. Castiglia's 2006 CD, A Stone's Throw, was released by Blues Leaf Records in New Jersey. It featured his covers of "Hoodoo Man Blues" by Junior Wells and "The Rise and Fall of Flingle Bunt" by The Shadows.
These Are the Days was released in April 2008, and it includes Castiglia's tribute to his old boss, Junior Wells, titled "Godfather of the Blues." Ronnie Earl, Billy Boy Arnold, Ronnie Baker Brooks, John Primer, Lurrie Bell, Larry McCray, Eddy Clearwater Junior Wells, Melvin Taylor, Phil Guy, and Otis Clay are among the artists with whom Castiglia has collaborated.
