Alabama Information
Alabama is an American country music band. The current lineup consists of Randy Owen and Teddy Gentry. The band's popularity can be partly attributed to the crossover appeal of their unique blend of classic country music and Southern rock with elements of bluegrass, folk, and pop music. They did a lot of touring and used rock concert–style production values like lighting and "sets" in their shows.
Southern Drawl, the band's first new studio album in 14 years, was released by BMG Chrysalis on September 18, 2015. Alabama was one of thirty musicians chosen in 2016 to contribute to "Forever Country," a medley of "Take Me Home, Country Roads," "On the Road Again," and "I Will Always Love You," honoring 50 years of the CMA Awards.
In April 2017, guitarist Jeff Cook revealed in a video that he would limit the number of tour shows he attended due to Parkinson's disease. It was his first time going public with the news of his diagnosis, which occurred four years earlier. The group parted ways with Reservoir Media regarding their recorded music rights catalog in August of 2021. On November 7, 2022, Cook passed away due to the effects of Parkinson's illness.
