Aliaune Damala Bouga Time Puru Nacka Lu Lu Lu Badara Akon Thiam (April 16, 1973) is a Senegalese-American entrepreneur, singer, and record producer. He is professionally known as Akon. Since his 2004 breakthrough with the singles "Locked Up" (featuring Styles P) and "Lonely" from his debut album Trouble (2004), he has been a major force in contemporary global music. Akon has been nominated for five Grammy Awards and has a discography that includes over 300 songs that he appears as a guest artist and over 35 songs that reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100.
Akon has announced he is developing a reality program for television. In the film titled My Brother's Keeper, Akon's two identical brothers pretend to be him to trick people in Atlanta into thinking they are Akon. They will likely attempt to receive special privileges or perks. Akon claims that his brothers, who look a lot like him, have been confused for him numerous times in Atlanta, the setting for the event.
For the 2011 Bollywood film Ra. One, he worked on the music and lyrics for the English and Hindi versions of the song "Chammak Challo" with the music directing pair Vishal-Shekhar. In the 2012 Nigerian-American film Black November, Akon makes his acting debut among an ensemble cast. American Heist, an action film directed by Sarik Andreasyan and starring him, Hayden Christensen, and Adrien Brody, was released in 2014.
