Adrianne Lenker Information
Adrianne Elizabeth Lenker (July 9, 1991) is an American musician. Along with her successful solo career, she plays lead vocals and guitar and is the band Big Thief's major songwriter. In the years between the ages of eight and thirteen, Lenker composed her first song and began recording her debut album. She spent over a year in Santa Cruz, living with a family friend and working at a McDonald's.
Released on February 28, 2006, Stages of the Sun was Lenker's debut solo; she was fourteen years old. The second studio album by Lenker, Hours Were the Birds, came out on January 9, 2014. Records a-sides and b-sides were issued on May 1, 2014, by Lenker and Buck Meek, who would later become bandmates. Joined by Max Oleartchik, James Krivchenia, Lenker, and Meek in 2015, Big Thief published their first album in 2016.
In January 2024, Lenker collaborated with the School of Song to lead a four-week songwriting class that explored various guitar styles and lyrical approaches to foster creativity. Bright Future, Lenker's sixth studio album, was announced in the same month and was released on March 22, 2024. I Won't Let Go of Your Hand, Lenker's EP, was published exclusively on Bandcamp on March 11, 2024, with earnings going to the Palestine Children's Relief Fund.
