Acid Witch is an American heavy metal band. The group's current lineup includes Mike Tuff, Phil Warren, Slasher Dave, and Shagrat. In 2007, they got together in Detroit, Michigan. Witchtanic Hellucinations, their debut album, was released by Razorback Records in 2008. After that, in 2009 and 2010, the band dropped two EPs: Witch House and Midnight Mass. Stoned, the band's second album was released via Hells Headbangers in 2010. Hells Headbangers reissued Witchtanic Hallucinations in 2012.
The band's sound incorporates elements of death metal, doom metal, stoner metal, psychedelic music, and the scores of horror movies like John Carpenter's Halloween. NWOBHM has been cited as an additional influence by others.
Slasher Dave, the band's lead singer, has said that bands like Pagan Altar and Witchfinder General have influenced him. The band calls their style of music "Halloween metal" because of its primary thematic elements surrounding Halloween. Many of the band's tracks draw inspiration from horror movies and feature extensive gore and references to sex and drugs, while the lyrics deal with themes of witchcraft, Halloween, and Satanism.
