Aaron Tippin Information
Aaron Dupree Tippin (July 3, 1958) is an American country music singer, songwriter, and record producer. In 1990, he signed a recording contract with RCA Nashville after beginning his career as a songwriter for Acuff-Rose Music. He broke it as a neotraditionalist country performer with lyrics that mostly appealed to the American working class with his breakthrough single, "You've Got to Stand for Something," which became a popular hymn for American soldiers serving in the Gulf War.
He released five studio albums and a greatest hits collection during his time with RCA. In 1998, Tippin signed with Lyric Street Records and proceeded to release four additional studio albums, including a Christmas music collection. After parting ways with Lyric Street in 2006, he started his label called Nippit Records, under which he released the retrospective album Now & Then. In 2009, a concept album titled In Overdrive was made available.
Tippin has, so far, put out nine studio albums and two compilations, all of which have been certified either gold or platinum. In addition, he has more than thirty singles that have reached the top ten on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, including three number ones: "There Ain't Nothin' Wrong with the Radio" (1992), "That's as Close as I'll Get to Loving You" (1995), and "Kiss This" (2000).
