Aaron Joseph Neville is a soul and R&B musician and vocalist born in New Orleans, Louisiana. Neville’s first single that received airplay outside New Orleans was “Over You.” His first major hit single was “Tell It Like It Is” that was released on a small New Orleans label. The song topped Billboard’s R&B chart for five weeks in 1967 and reached number 2 on Billboard’s Hot 100.
Neville released his debut solo album in 1986 entitled “Orchid in The Storm.” He teamed up with Linda Ronstadt on the album “Cry Like a Rainstorm, Howl Like the Wind” in 1989, which included four duets by the pair. Neville has worked with different recording labels throughout his career such as Minit, Par-Lo, Curb, A&M, Chordant, EMI, and Burgundy. He has also appeared in many hit films to date, such as Zandalee (1991), The Fan (1996), Boycott (2001), Sandin Wexler (2017), and Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice (2019).
Some of his notable singles include “Over You,” “She Took You for a Ride,” “Baby I’m A Want You,” “The Greatest Love,” “Everybody Plays the End,” “Somewhere Somebody,” “Close Your Eyes,” and several others. Neville has also released many notable studio albums so far, including Like It ‘Tis (1967), Warm Your Heart (1991), The Grand Tour (1993), Aaron Neville’s Soulful Christmas (1993), and To Make Me Who I Am (1997).
