Nippert Stadium is an outdoor stadium located within the campus of the University of Cincinnati at 2700 Bearcats Way, (174 West Corry Street), Cincinnati, Ohio. The facility is a multipurpose venue for sports and other large scale events, which is primarily used for American football. It has a seating capacity of approximately 40,000 people. The stadium was first opened to the general public after a lengthy period of construction in 1915. Currently, the University of Cincinnati owns and operates the stadium. Frederick W. Barber designed the architecture of the venue. After commencement, it has undergone a long journey of renovations and expansions to meet modern-day demands. The last renovation was done in 2017.
Nippert Stadium is a home field to Cincinnati Bearcats (NCAA) and FC Cincinnati of Major League Soccer team. It is the fourth oldest playing venue and fifth oldest college football stadium. The stadium was dedicated to James Gamble Nippert Memorial Stadium in 1924, who was the former player (he died through spine injury while playing). The Nippert stadium hosts football matches, soccer leagues, concerts, political and public gatherings, circuses, and other University events.
Cincinnati Comets of the American Soccer League 1973, Ohio River Rock Festival 1975, Nitro Circus 2018, and Barack Obama’s Rally in 2008 are some of the notable events that were hosted at the Nippert Stadium. It also hosted concerts by Edgar Winter Group, Jame Gang, Peter Frampton, and Grand Funk Railroad.
