Kidd Brewer Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium located at 270 Stadium Dr. Boone, North Carolina. The stadium is nicknamed “The Rock” and was formerly known as Conrad Stadium. It has a present seating capacity of 30,000 people along with 18 executive suites and 500 club seats. The venue opened to the general public on September 15, 1962, with a construction cost of $32 million. The stadium underwent continuous expansion from 1987 till the current year and was renovated in the years 1999, 2001, 2003, 2008, 2011, 2013, 2016, and 2017. Walter Robbs Callahan and Pierce designed the architecture of the expanded building. It is under the ownership as well as operated by Appalachian State University. Kidd Brewer Stadium serves home to Appalachian State Mountaineers (NCAA) Football and the school's track and field team. The stadium is named after the most successful head coaches in Appalachian football history named Kidd Brewer.
The largest attendance recorded at the stadium was on September 23, 2017, which was 35,126 in a football match against Wake Forest. The home team also played some big-crowd games against Western Carolina, Miami, Georgia Southern, Coastal Carolina, Jacksonville, Montana, Wofford, and Elon. Kidd Brewer Stadium was the backdrop for the second college football game ever televised by ESPN in 1979 as the Mountaineers played the Western Carolina Catamounts for the Old Mountain Jug.
