First Baptist Church - Indian Trail Tickets Information
First Baptist Church - Indian Trail is a Southern Baptist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. The church’s mission is to love and lead everyone into a daily walk with Christ. Organized for the first time in April 1951, there were 29 founding members, four acres of land were purchased on Indian Trail Fairview Road. The church’s founding pastor was Rev. C.W. Boatwright, while Rev. Lloyd Walters and Rev. Melvin Helms are some other early pastors. The very first buildings of First Baptist Church Indian Trail were two donated army barracks.
Rev. Earl Sossamon became pastor of the First Baptist Church in 1958. He served the church for 24 years, and under his leadership, the church steadily grew with success. Additional buildings were built to accommodate the growth, which includes the Earl Sossamon Chapel auditorium. The church had grown to 446 members when Rev. Earl Sossamon retired in 1982. On April 1, 1983, Dr. Michael T. Whitson became the new pastor, and the church witnessed phenomenal growth under his leadership.
Currently, First Baptist Church - Indian Trail is proudly serving over 7,200 members, and it is considered a vital part of this growing community. Under the leadership of Dr. Whitson, many programs have taken place, such as the current Worship Center (1993), the Family Life Center, and the beautiful Preschool and Children’s Building (2005). In 2012, a complete renovation and addition to the Worship Center were completed. In 1998, the East Campus of First Baptist Church Indian Trail began in Marshville.
