Rhythm of the Dance Information
As ice dancing competitions begin, the first part is the rhythm dance (RD). The short dance was rechristened as the "rhythm dance" in June 2018 by the International Skating Union (ISU) in preparation for the 2018–2019 season. It was included in worldwide contests in July 2018. At the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, France's Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron earned the top RD score of 90.83 points.
Judging for the 2022–2023 season shifted the focus from pattern dances to choreographic rhythm sequences, with the former serving as a prerequisite for senior ice dancers. The criteria for the 2022–2023 season were released by the ISU in April 2022. The highest RD score ever recorded was 92.73, which was obtained by French ice dancers Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron at the 2022 World Championships. Additionally, they have the top seven RD scores.
