In Rapid City, South Dakota, Prima Dance was established in 1964 by Christy Remington. Remington uses a staff of highly trained instructors who educate young kids in various dance styles to share her enthusiasm with them. Prima Dance welcomes dancers of all skill and experience levels to enroll in ballet, hip-hop, tap, acro, jazz, contemporary, and lyrical classes. In addition to regular dancing courses, Prima Dancing Studio provides rehearsal and training space for performance and competition companies. These ensembles then tour South Dakota and the rest of the United States to perform and compete.
Prima Dance hosts an annual Spring Recital when all of its students perform. Prima Company, a competing group, performs live shows for fans throughout the United States. Radio City Music Hall is just one of the many prestigious venues that have hosted this audition-only ensemble from Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, and Nebraska.
