Andrew Levitt is a drag queen, activist, actor, and singer-songwriter. She resides in Columbus, Ohio, who goes by the stage name Nina West. Her debut on the eleventh season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, when she placed sixth and won Miss Congeniality, catapulted her to national notoriety. Columbus Underground voted her the Top Local Artist of 2019. Levitt grew up in the Ohio village of Greentown. He earned a bachelor’s degree in theatre from Denison University. He intended to pursue acting, but owing to the September 11 attacks, he chose not to go to New York City.
In 2001, West began playing in drag. She has also presented the competition “So You Think You Can Drag?” and Axis Nightclub’s annual “Heels of Horror” show. In 2018, West was named to Columbus Business First’s “40 Under 40” list. Amos Sussigan and Dan Lund directed and produced Coaster, an animated short film in which she featured. On May 10, 2019, she released a music video for her debut single “Hucks.”
Following her removal, some celebrities and public figures, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Scott Hoying, turned to social media to express their support for Nina West. Following her elimination, Rihanna reportedly sent West a private message. In June 2019, she was interviewed by Adore Delano and Monet X Change for an edition of The View. Nina West has appeared in a few web series such as Watcha Packin’ (2019), Queen to Queen (2019), What’s My Name? (2021), and Drag Queens React (2021).
