Neal Brennan Information
Neal Brennan (October 19, 1973) is an American podcaster, director, writer, and comedian. He was born in Villanova, Pennsylvania. At 18 years old, Brennan began performing stand-up comedy after working as a doorman at the Boston Comedy Club for six months. He said he "got no laughs" and didn't do stand-up again for five years after that. In 1992, he also contributed to The Source.
Brennan relocated to Los Angeles in the middle of the '90s. In 1995, he started working as a writer for Jenny McCarthy and Chris Hardwick's dating comedy Singled Out. This was followed by stints as a writer (among other things) on the 1996 game show Bzzz!, the 1996–1997 sketch comedy–variety show All That, and the 1997 adolescent sitcom Kenan & Kel.
The screenplay for the 1997 film Half Baked marked the first time that Brennan and Dave Chappelle worked together. Chappelle, Jim Breuer, Harland Williams, and Guillermo Daz featured in the film premiered in January 1998. Although it bombed at the box office and was met with mostly poor reviews, the film Half Baked has become a cult favorite.
Brennan has continued doing stand-up locally in Los Angeles or anywhere else in the country. He has also made guest appearances on Lopez Tonight, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and Conan. Brennan oversaw the production of ten episodes of Inside Amy Schumer in 2013.
