Legendary Latin comedian Paul Rodriguez, who performed in the Original Latin Kings of Comedy, and the digital media business Chicano Hollywood are teaming up to produce the 20th Anniversary Tour of the Latin Kings of Comedy. Johnny Sanchez from MadTV, Dry Bar Comedians Dennis Gaxiola and Gilbert Esquivel, and Original Latin Kings of Comedy alum Joey Medina are just a few of the top Latin comedians appearing on the tour.
It wasn't until 2002 that the movie The Original Latin Kings of Comedy was made public. African-American comedians, including Bernie Mac, Steve Harvey, D.L. Hughes, and Cedric the Entertainer, starred in this Jeb Brien-directed sequel to the 2000 film The Original Kings of Comedy. Comedians like Cheech Marin, George Lopez, and Alex Reymondo were featured with headliners like Medina and Rodriguez.
Headliner Rodriguez moved to Compton, California, from his birthplace of Culiacan, Sinaloa. Before becoming a comedian, Rodriguez served in the Air Force. Rodriguez made his television debut in 1984 on the short-lived series a.k.a. Pablo. One of the 100 greatest stand-up comedians of all time, he went on to host The Newlywed Game and was ranked #74 on Comedy Central's "List of 100 Greatest Stand-ups of All Time."
