Hershey Felder Information
Hershey Felder (July 9, 1968) is an actor, playwright, and pianist who is known for his portrayals of American and classical composers on the theatrical stage. In 1994, he moved to Los Angeles to work briefly for the USC Shoah Foundation. Felder interviewed the Holocaust survivors so he can provide their oral histories for them to be filmed. The very next year, he attended the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, which was held in Poland. This led him to create his one-person show called George Gershwin Alone.
Felder premiered his one-person play-with-music called “Maestro.” The music was all about Leonard Bernstein. He received a letter from the Russian officials who invited him. He accepted their invitation to portray Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Felder’s major portrayals so far include Claude Debussy, Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Ludwig van Beethoven, Frederic Chopin, and George Gershwin. He also gave the impersonation of the American songwriter named “Irving Berlin.”
Felder directed Mona Golabek, who was a concert pianist. The direction had to be made for her upcoming project entitled The Pianist of Willesden Lane, which was an adaptation of the book The Children of Willesden Lane. He has also worked successfully as a composer. A few of his composed projects included Song Settings, Aliyah Concerto on Israeli Themes, an Opera, and Noah’s Ark.
