Grease Information
Grease is a musical by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey in 1971, that was named after the US working-class youth subculture known as greasers in the 1950s. It is based in 1959 at the fictional Rydell High School on Jim Jacobs' experience at William Taft High School, Chicago. Grease follows ten working-class teenagers who navigate the complexities of peer pressure, personal core values, politics, and love. Other issues the show touches on include peer pressure, teenage pregnancy, and gang violence. The original production of the musical was raunchy, raw, aggressive, and somewhat vulgar. The later on productions toned it down.
The music is full of fun songs like Summer Nights and You're the One That I Want, which people still love today. Grease has remained popular over the years. Plenty of shows and even a movie sequel took place. The characters played by John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John (Danny and Sandy) became classics. People enjoy the music, the dancing, and the tale about high school life.
