Etta May is an American comedian from Kentucky. She gained fame after winning the American Comedy Awards for the category of Stand-Up Comic of the Year. She has appeared on Oprah, Comic Strip Live, MTV to perform comedy, and as a guest commentator on CBS Sunday Morning. May appeared at the Philadelphia LGBT Pride Fest, which was the first LGBT event of her career. Attending this event was promoted by Scott Sherman of Atlantic Entertainment Group in 1999. She participated in the event with comic Thea Vidale, who both were honored by the mayor of the city. He officially named the event day simultaneously as “Thea Vidale Day” & “Etta May Day.”
Etta May is known as a comedy icon, hailed as the “Polyester Princess,” and the reigning queen of Southern Sass. She is famous for delivering high-powered, hilarious take-no-prisoners performances packed with iron humor, wisdom, and truth. May is the headliner of the massively famous and successful Southern Fried Chicks Comedy Tour. With this tour’s help, May could tout a considerable fan base on the SiriusXM comedy channel.
