Bill Browder Information
Bill Browder (April 23, 1964) is an American-born British political activist and financier. He is the co-founder and CEO of the “Hermitage Capital Management.” His full name is William Felix Browder, born in Princeton, New Jersey, and grew up in Chicago, Illinois. He was reported as a threat to Russian national security after taking on large Russian companies, including Gazprom, Unified Energy Systems, Sidanco, and some more. He is a graduate of the University of Chicago in economics and completed his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Browder initiated his London career from the Boston Consulting Group in London. He founded the Hermitage Capital Management in 1996 along with Edmond Safra that became the prominent Russian Gazprom activist shareholder. In the year 1995 until 2006, Hermitage was stated to be the largest foreign investor in Russia. He was blacklisted from Russia due to interfering with the money flow.
On May 30, 2018, Browser was arrested after the investigation held by Russian authorities. He was arrested by the Spanish police in Madrid on an arrest warrant by Russian Interpol but was freed soon.
Browder published a book entitled Red Notice: A True Story of High Finance, Murder, and One Man's Fight for Justice. This book was about his career and was published in February 2015. The heart of the book revolves around the death of his attorney named Sergei Magnitsky, Russia's corruption blame, and his responses towards these.
Browder has been presented with countless awards and recognitions. Some of the most notable ones are the Aspen Institute Henry Crown Leadership Award, Coalition for Integrity's Integrity Award, International Commission of Jurists Rule of Law Champion Award (2019), Trinity College (Dublin) SMF Award, and several more. He is expected to receive the Professional Achievement Award by the University of Chicago on November 2019.
