The men's basketball team from the University of Utah, the Utah Utes—sometimes referred to as the Runnin' Utes—is a member of the Pac-12 Conference and a Division I institution. You may find them in the Jon M. Huntsman Center on game days. The school's 29 appearances in the NCAA tournament place it 20th all-time and tie it for third most in the Western U.S., behind only UCLA and Arizona. 

Their 2016 tournament appearance was their last. Utah College's lone NCAA basketball title came in 1944 when the Utes defeated Dartmouth College 42-40. Having won the AAU national tournament in 1916, the school also claims the title of national champion. Additionally, they defeated Kentucky in 1947 to claim their only NIT victory. 

The Utes' journey to the 1998 NCAA championship game was a testament to their competitiveness. Despite a loss to Kentucky, the Utes put up a strong fight. The team's overall record of 21-12 and a 9-9 record in Pac-12 play in the 2013-2014 season marked a moderate return to form. The Utes' scoring improved from 64.2 points per game to 75.1 points per game after the addition of freshman guard Delon Wright and sophomore guard Brandon Taylor, with Jordan Loveridge maintaining his starting position at point guard.
