UNLV Rebels Football Information
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) is home to a Division I college football team called the Rebels. The squad competes in the NCAA's Division I Bowl Subdivision (previously Division I-A), where it is a member of the Mountain West Conference. The team has been around since September 14, 1968, and calls Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada, home for their games.
On November 23, 2019, in front of 17,373 people at Sam Boyd Stadium, the UNLV Rebels defeated the San Jose State Spartans by a score of 38-35. Tony Sanchez and UNLV mutually decided to end their relationship on November 25; the split took place following the Wolf Pack's final regular-season game. On December 11, 2019, Marcus Arroyo, the offensive coordinator for the Oregon Ducks, was named the new head coach of the Rebel football team.
The Rebels played Nevada in the inaugural game at Allegiant Stadium on October 31, 2020, and lost by a score of 37-19. When the Mountain West Conference consolidates into a single division in 2023, UNLV will continue to play Hawai'i every year because it is one of the two protected rivalries (together with Nevada). The 'Bows now hold a 19-13 advantage in the all-time rivalry against their rival.
