Tucson Sugar Skulls Information
At a press conference on August 23, 2018, at the Tucson Convention Center, the franchise's ownership group, headed by Kevin and Cathy Guy, made the announcement. Due to Kevin Guy's dual role as head coach of the Arizona Rattlers and the team, Cathy, Mike Feder, and Ali Farhang became the main owners of the Tucson team. On September 12, 2018, the club introduced Marcus Coleman as its new head coach.
On September 20, 2018, the winning entry in a naming competition inspired by the local custom of making sugar skulls for the holidays of Da de Muertos (Day of the Dead) and the Roman Catholic feast of All Souls was announced. In their inaugural campaign, the club finished with a 7-7 record, good enough to advance to the postseason. The Sioux Falls Storm, who ended up winning the league, beat them 50–47 in the first round.
