Tri-City ValleyCats Information
The Tri-City ValleyCats, or simply the 'Cats,' are a New York State professional baseball club. Playing their home games at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium, the ValleyCats are members of the East Division of the Frontier League (FL).
They competed as the Houston Astros' Class A Short Season club in the New York-Penn League (NYPL) from 2002 until 2020. After the 2020 season, Major League Baseball restructured the minor leagues, and the ValleyCats were not chosen to remain associated with the league. In 2020, they joined the Frontier League, an independent league that became an MLB Partner League the following year.
The 2023 season was the ValleyCats' first attempt at making the postseason. Unfortunately, the Sussex County Miners defeated them to claim the third and last playoff position. The Miners' winning run was longer than the ValleyCats', even though their East Division records were identical. As a result, the ValleyCats were eliminated from the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season.
