Springfield Cardinals Information
The Springfield Cardinals play in the Missouri League as a minor league baseball club. They play in the North Division of the Texas League. The 2005 season was the Cardinals' debut. The 11-time MLB World Champion St. Louis Cardinals, who own the franchise, have used it as their Double-A affiliate since the organization's inception in 2005, creating a strong bond between the two teams.
The club has called Hammons Field home since the beginning. As of the 2020 season, 114 former players with the Springfield Cardinals have made their MLB debut with the St. Louis Cardinals, while 27 more have debuted with other MLB clubs. 2012, the Cardinals achieved their greatest season, leading the North Division in the second half.
They also set a franchise record and division best with a record of 77-61. On top of that, they won the Texas League Championship. After a best-of-five divisional playoff series against the Tulsa Drillers, winning 3-2, they made it to their second Texas League Championship Series in 2012 for the franchise. St. Louis Cardinals, the Springfield franchise's Major League Baseball affiliate, sold the team to Diamond Baseball Holdings on May 1, 2023.
