The squad is a member of the Northeast Conference and competes in NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). In 1993, the school fielded its first football squad. The team's home games are held at Campus Field, which seats 3,334 people.
Sacred Heart has made four FCS playoff appearances. They have a collective 0–4 record. White and red are the official colors of the team. Mark Nofri now serves as the Sacred Heart's head coach.
