The Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) organization Ring of Combat (ROC) is situated in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Lou Neglia, a former kickboxing champion, is its leader. HDNet Fights has broadcast several Ring of Combat events, including ROC XVIII and ROC XXI. As early as 2000, Lou Neglia started advertising MMA fights on kickboxing shows. MMA, kickboxing, and Muay Thai fights were all part of the inaugural Ring of Combat event, which was held at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. All cards from ROC V to the present featured only MMA matches, though ROC II, III, and IV also featured non-MMA matches. Ring of Combat competitions is currently typically hosted at the Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

The length and number of rounds in ROC fights are now diverged from the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts. Each round in a standard match lasts four minutes, with bouts consisting of two or three rounds. Three rounds, each lasting five minutes, are used in title matches.
