The Reading Fightin Phils (also known as the Reading Fightins) are a minor league baseball club based in Reading, Pennsylvania, that competes in the Eastern League's Northeast Division. The FirstEnergy Stadium is the site of the team's home games. The Reading Fightin Phils are the Double-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. They were created in 1967 as the Reading Phillies, sometimes known as the R-Phils and Reading Phils, from time to time.
Reading has always been the home of the Reading Phillies, and the team has played under the moniker "Reading Phillies" since its inception in 1967 until 2012. The Reading Fightin Phils have been around longer than any other Eastern League team and have played under their original moniker more seasons than any other franchise (Reading Phillies).
The Reading Phillies announced their rebranding on November 4, 2012. The squad changed its name to the Reading Fightin Phils on November 17, 2012. This club joined the Double-A Northeast in 2021 as part of MLB's reorganization of the minor leagues. The Double-A Northeast rebranded in 2022 as the Eastern League, the moniker formerly held by the regional circuit before its reconfiguration in 2021.
