Quick Lane Bowl Information
The Quick Lane Bowl is an NCAA-certified post-season college football bowl game that began play in 2014. The game, sponsored by the Detroit Lions of the National Football League, pits a bowl-eligible Big Ten Conference club against an opponent from the Atlantic Coast Conference or a Mid-American Conference team if neither conference has any more eligible teams.
The Quick Lane Bowl, a de facto successor for the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl, is held at Ford Field in Detroit. It follows the same schedule as the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl. Unlike its predecessor, which pitted the Big Ten's eighth-place team against the Mid-American champion, conference officials choose the current year's contestants rather than the final rankings. Ford Motor Company acts as the game's title sponsor through its auto store brand Quick Lane.
The Quick Lane Bowl announced, on October 21, 2014, a secondary tie-in with the MAC. In December 2014, the Big Ten's Rutgers and the ACC's North Carolina met in the inaugural Quick Lane Bowl. Five ACC teams, four Big Ten teams, and three MAC teams have appeared in the first six games of the bowl.
