PAC 12 Football Championship Information
Every year, the Pac-12 Conference crowns a champion in college football with the annual Pac-12 Football Championship Game. The North Division champion faced off against the South Division champion between 2011 and 2021. The first-ever game was played in 2011. The conference champions from each league played each other in the title game beginning in 2022.
The conference used to pit the South Division champion against the North Division champion for the conference title game from the 2011 season through the 2021 season. With the 2022 season, the Pac-12 decided to have the conference championship game feature the two teams with the highest conference winning percentage regardless of division play. In a 12-year arrangement that began in 2012, ESPN and Fox Sports own the broadcast rights to the game, with ESPN airing the broadcasts in odd years and Fox in even years.
Every team in the Pac-12 South represented the division at least once during the era of divisional play; however, since 2015, only USC and Utah have made the playoffs from the South, and only USC has ever won the Championship Game. Only Oregon, Stanford, and Washington were North representatives; all three have been repeated champions.
