The football program was established in 1893, and the team has been a member of the Pac-12 Conference ever since. In 2018, Jonathan Smith was promoted to head coach. Their home stadium, Reser Stadium in Corvallis, Oregon, can hold 35,000+ fans. The stadium's temporary capacity was 26,000 for the 2022 season, and its official capacity has increased to 35,548 in time for the 2023 season as a result of the finalization of the construction project.
