The Oklahoma Sooners football team has been one of the top programs in college football for many years. They became a powerhouse in the 1950s and have stayed strong ever since. The team is known for fast, exciting plays, tough defenses, and a huge fan base. Over the years, they’ve won numerous games and national titles, with players earning the Heisman Trophy. The Sooners have always been a big part of college football history.
They play their home games in Norman, Oklahoma, at a stadium filled with loud, proud fans. After spending many years in the Big 12, the team now plays in the Southeastern Conference or SEC. That means they face some of the toughest teams in the country. One of their biggest games each year is against Texas in the Red River Rivalry, played in Dallas. Other big games this fall include Michigan at home on September 6 and the Red River Rivalry against Texas on October 11. They’ll also play top teams like Alabama, LSU, and Tennessee. Head coach Brent Venables is back for his fourth season. New quarterback John Mateer and running back Jaydn Ott are expected to lead the team. After a rough year in 2024, the Sooners are working hard to make a big comeback this fall.
