Northwest Arkansas Naturals Information
The Northwest Arkansas Naturals are a Minor League Baseball club in Springdale, Arkansas. The club is the Kansas City Royals Double-A affiliate and plays in the Texas League. Arvest Ballpark, home of the Naturals since its 2008 opening, is situated at the crossroads of Watkins Avenue and Gene George Boulevard. The team, which had been known as the Wichita Wranglers since 2008, moved from Wichita, Kansas.
Following an online fan survey, the "Naturals" moniker was selected with 33% of the vote, edging the runner-up, "Thunder Chickens," by 6%. The "Thunder Chickens" name was a tribute to the local poultry business and Tyson Foods, located near Springdale, the country's biggest chicken supplier. On one occasion per season, the squad dons Thunder Chickens gear and wears their outfits for a single game.
In 2021, the Naturals won the Double-A Central title by defeating the Wichita Wind Surge, three games to zero, while having the second-best record on the circuit. The Double-A Central rebranded in 2022 as the Texas League, the moniker that the regional circuit had previously used before the reconfiguration in 2021.
