Northern Arizona Lumberjacks Football Information
The NAU Lumberjacks football team represents Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona, in the NCAA's Division I-Football Championship. The college is a part of the Big Sky Conference and plays in the NCAA's Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS).
The year 1915 saw the debut of the institution's very first football squad. The Walkup Skydome, which has a capacity of 17,500, serves as the venue for the team's home games. Chris Ball took over as head coach for the 2019 campaign.
There have been several ongoing rivalry between the Lumberjacks and their western rivals. The scope of competition has expanded outside the West. The Lumberjacks have competed against eastern teams like Ole Miss's Rebels, Florida Atlantic's Owls, and Appalachian State's Mountaineers.
With a score of 21–19, Northern Arizona defeated Arizona on September 18, 2021, marking the first time it has happened since 1932. It was their third overall win over an FBS team since 2012. Moreover, it was their first win against an FBS team since they defeated UTEP in 2018 and their first victory over a Pac-12 team.
