North Carolina State Wolfpack Baseball Information
North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina, United States, is home to the NC State Wolfpack, a Division I college baseball club. Since the league's inception in 1954, the team has been a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Doak Field, built specifically for this program, debuted that year.
Head coach Elliott Avent has been with the team since before the 1997 season. As of the end of the 2015 season, the Wolfpack had played in 32 NCAA Tournaments and three College World Series. They've taken home the ACC regular season title four times and the ACC tournament trophy four times. In Sammy Esposito's second year as head coach at NC State, the Wolfpack made it to the College World Series for the first time in 1968. The team reached the World Series semifinals before losing to eventual champion USC.
Five times since the NCAA Tournament expanded to include the Super Regional round in 1999, NC State has competed, losing to Miami (2003), Georgia (2008), and Florida (2012), while defeating Rice (2013) and Arkansas (2021) in the process. Forty-seven former Wolfpack players have made it to Major League Baseball as of the 2021 season.
