NextEra Energy Resources 250 Information
The NextEra Energy 250 is a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Dayton International Speedway. This is an event of Speedweeks that started in 2000 as the series of races leading up to the Daytona 500.
Joe Ruttman is the first driver who won the race from the pole position in 2001, while Ricky Hendrick finished in second. The race featured a three-wide finish in 2003 on the final lap between Rick Crawford while defending Dayton winner Robert Pressley. It went from Friday afternoon to Friday night and ran under the lights for the first time in 2004. Camping World took the sponsorship for the 2009 race.
The 2011 race was held on the anniversary of Dale Earnhardt’s death during the 2001 Daytona 500. In the 2019 race, only nine drivers finished the race. The rest of them were involved in terrible wrecks. Austin Hill survived the carnage and won his career’s first-ever Truck race.
Johnny Sauter and Todd Bodine are the only drivers who have won the NextEra Energy 250 more than once. Other winners of the event include Kaz Grala, Tyler Reddick, Kyle Busch, John King, Michael Waltrip, Timothy Peters, Jack Sprague, Mark Martin, Bobby Hamilton, Carl Edwards, Rick Crawford, and Mike Wallace.
