New Mexico Bowl Information
The New Mexico Bowl is an annual NCAA post-season college football game since 2006. It takes place at Dreamstyle Stadium, located on the University of New Mexico's campus in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The game is owned and operated by ESPN Events and is typically scheduled as one of the bowl season's first games. It has tie-ins with the Mountain West Conference and Conference USA. In 2020, the New Mexico Bowl was moved to Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.
The New Mexico Bowl trophy is a 20-inch piece of Zia Pueblo pottery painted with Pueblo symbols, the logo of the bowl game, the logos of the competing teams, and football players. A Zia Pueblo symbol used in the state flag is also incorporated into the bowl game logo. Trophies for the most valuable players are crafted from traditional leather shields.
The New Mexico Bowl was sponsored by a clothing manufacturer, Gildan, from 2011 to 2017 and was known as the Gildan New Mexico Bowl. The bowl announced a sponsorship deal with DreamHouse Productions, a local film studio, in 2019.
So far, teams that have won the New Mexico Bowl include San Jose State, New Mexico, Colorado State, Wyoming, BYU, Temple, Arizona, Colorado State, Utah State, Hawaii, and San Diego State. The New Mexico team has the most appearances in the bowl since its inception, with four appearances.
