National Baseball Congress World Series Information
The National Baseball Congress is an American organization of 17 amateur and semi-professional baseball leagues from Wichita, Kansas. The organization was founded in 1935 by Hap Dumont. The organization conducts an annual North American championship tournament that is played among its members. Since 1935, the National Baseball Congress World Series has also been held at Wichita’s Lawrence-Dumont Stadium through 2018, Wichita State’s Eck Stadium in 2019, and Eck Stadium Wichita’s Riverfront Stadium starting in 2020.
According to Dumont, he was inspired to start the league after seeing a large crowd for the circus clown-firemen baseball game that was taking place in Wichita. He first started the National Semi-Pro Baseball Congress Kansas State Tournament in 1931 on former Ackerman Island. The league is now recognized as for the amateur athletes after the rise of Minor League Baseball.
