NASCAR Racing Experience 300 Information
NASCAR Racing Experience 300, also known as Daytona 300, is the first race of the NASCAR Xfinity Series season. It is a 300-mile-long race held at the Daytona International Speedway, a day before the Daytona 500. The race is considered the most prestigious event of the Xfinity Series. The Daytona 300 was the only event of the Xfinity Series until 2002 that was planned to be held at Daytona International Speedway. The first race of the event took place in 1959, and the first Xfinity Series race took place in 1982.
Daytona 300 was also held in the short-lived NASCAR Convertible Division during 1956-1959. Due to the prestige and prominent position on the Speedweeks calendar, the event has attracted many NASCAR Cup Series regulars. They have dominated the race since 1981 and won all nine runnings. Some notable cup regulars who have won the race title multiple times include Dale Earnhardt Jr. (3 wins), Darrell Waltrip (5), Tony Stewart (7), and Dale Earnhardt (7).
National Cattlemen’s Beef Association is currently the corporate sponsor for the event. The race went through several name changes since its inception, including Modified Sportsman Race (1959-1965), Permatex 300 (1966-1977), Hershey’s Kisses 300 (2004), Hershey’s Take 5 300 (2005), Hershey’s Kissables 300 (2006), Orbitz 300 (2007), Camping World 300 (2010-2014), Alert Today Florida 300 (2015), PowerShares QQQ 300 (2016-2018), and NASCAR Racing Experience 300 (2019-2020).
