The Midland RockHounds have been part of Minor League Baseball since 1972. They are based in Midland, Texas, and play in the Texas League as the Double-A affiliate of the Athletics. The team was originally known as the Midland Cubs and later the Midland Angels before becoming the RockHounds in 1999. The name “RockHounds” is a nickname for geologists, which ties into the oil and energy industry in West Texas. Fans quickly got behind the new name, and the team has been a big part of the Midland community ever since.
The RockHounds play their home games at Momentum Bank Ballpark, which opened in 2002. The stadium is family-friendly and offers a fun mix of baseball, food, and entertainment.
