Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders is an American football team representing Middle Tennessee State University in football. The team competes in the Football Bowl Subdivision of the NCAA and the East Division of Conference (CUSA). The Raiders play their home games at the Johnny “Red” Floyd Stadium, with a seating capacity of 30,788. Rick Stockstill is the current coach of the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders. He has been performing his duties as a coach since 2006.
The Raiders have been both affiliated and independent with multiple conferences such as Independent (1911-1951), Ohio Valley Conference (1952-1998), Independent (1999-2000), Sun Belt Conference (2001-2012), and Conference USA (2013-present). The team has been trained under several head coaches over the years, including L. T. “Mutt” Weber (1911-1912), Alfred B. Miles (1913-1916), Johnny Floyd (1917), Guy Stephenson (1924-1925), Frank Faulkinberry (1926-1932), Johnny Floyd (1935-1938), Elwin W. Midgett (1946), Donald E. Fuoss (1969), and many others.
Lightning is the official mascot of the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders. Rivals of the team include Western Kentucky and Troy. The official color theme of the Raiders’ uniform includes white and royal blue. The team has won 13 conference titles so far.
