Emmanuel “Manny” Dapidran Pacquiao Sr. (December 17, 1978) is a Filipino boxer and politician. He was born in Kibawe, Bukidnon, and raised in General Santos, Philippines. Pacquiao went to elementary school at Saavedra Saway Elementary School in General Santos City. Pacquiao moved to Manila at the age of 14. He used to live on the streets and worked as a construction worker. He began boxing and also made the Philippine national amateur boxing team.
Pacquiao created history as he became the first boxer ever to win world titles in eight weight divisions. He won twelve major world titles. Pacquiao is also known as the first boxer in history who won major world titles in boxing in four of the eight weight classes. After getting enough fame, Pacquiao became a celebrity. He started his hosting and acting career with guest appearances on ABS-CBN shows. As an actor, Pacquiao also signed a contract with ACS-CBN.
Pacquiao starred with Valerie Concepcion and Ara Mina in Anak ng Kumander in 2008. He also played the leading role in the comedy film named, Wapakman. The movie was released on December 25, 2009. He also recorded songs to use as entrance music for his fights. His Tagalog songs were mostly composed by Lito Camo. Pacquiao recorded a cover song, “Sometimes When We Tour,” originally by Dan Hill. The song was released on November 3, 2009. He also released an extended play in 2015 that featured his own recorded entrance song for his fight against Floyd Meyweather Jr.
