LSU Tigers Softball Information
Louisiana State University's softball team, the LSU Tigers, competes in NCAA Division I. The Tigers play their home games in Tiger Park and are members of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Beth Torina is the current coach of the club. LSU has been unstoppable, with nine division titles, five SEC regular season titles, and five SEC tournament championships.
LSU has also appeared in nineteen NCAA tournaments and six Women's College World Series. LSU announced the hiring of long-time Alabama head coach Patrick Murphy to succeed Yvette Girouard on June 9, 2011. Nevertheless, Murphy declared his intention to stay at Alabama after a change of heart three days later. LSU hired former Florida International University (FIU) head coach Beth Torina on June 20, 2011.
In 2012, Torina's debut season as head coach, the Tigers made it to the Women's College World Series. Since then, they've been back for three more appearances in the series: in 2015, 2016, and 2017. On May 1, 2016, under Torina's leadership, the program won its 1,000th game with a 9-1 victory over the Arkansas Razorbacks in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
