LPGA Tour Championship Information
The LPGA Tour's final tournament of the year is the CME Group Tour Championship. The LPGA Tour Championship was played in 2009 and 2010 but was replaced by the CME Group Titleholders tournament from 2011 through 2013. The tournament's site is the Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida.
The LPGA started keeping score in 2014. The winner of this competition, known as the Race to the CME Globe, will receive a million-dollar prize. All riders must finish the season at the CME Group Tour Championship. The winner of the Race to the CME Globe is determined by adding the points earned throughout the season (called "reset points") to the points earned by the top 40 golfers (called "Championship points") to determine the winner.
The first tournament was played at Orlando, Florida's Grand Cypress Golf Club in 2011. It then moved to the TwinEagles Club in Naples, Florida, in 2012, where it was played on the Eagles Course. Its current site in the Tiburon dates back to 2013. Park Hee-Young was the inaugural prize recipient.
