The Louisiana–Monroe Warhawks football team (previously known as the Northeast Louisiana Indians) is the University of Louisiana at Monroe football team. ULM is part of the Sun Belt Conference and competes in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), with a history stretching back to 1931. The Warhawks play their home games at JPS Field at Malone Stadium, located on the University of Louisiana at Monroe in Monroe, Louisiana.
On December 28, 2012, the Warhawks competed in their first-ever FBS bowl game, the Independence Bowl in Shreveport, Louisiana, where they were defeated 45–14 by the Ohio Bobcats. Matt Viator was named the 13th head coach of the McNeese State Warhawks in December 2015. The Warhawks improved to a 4–8 record in Viator's inaugural season, up to two games from the previous season. On December 23, 2020, Terry Bowden was named head coach. Bowden had worked as an unpaid intern at Clemson during the previous season while pursuing his master's degree.
