Kentucky Wildcats Football Information
The Kentucky Wildcats football team serves the University of Kentucky in American football. The Wildcats play in the NCAA's Eastern Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) and the FBS's Football Bowl Subdivision. The Wildcats, coached by Mark Stoops, play their home games at Kroger Field in Lexington.
After defeating Central Michigan in 2018, Kentucky traveled to Gainesville to take on the Florida Gators. The Gators had won 31 consecutive games against Kentucky before 2018, but the Wildcats finally broke their losing run with a 27-16 victory at The Swamp.
They added victories against Murray State and No. 14 Mississippi State in the next two weeks, the latter of which propelled Kentucky into the Top 25 for the first time since 2007, marking the Wildcats' return to the rankings.
Mark Stoops and the University of Kentucky football team made even more headlines that year. After victories over Louisiana Monroe, South Carolina, Florida, LSU, Missouri, UT-Chattanooga, Vanderbilt, New Mexico State, Louisville, and the Iowa Hawkeyes in the VRBO Citrus Bowl, Kentucky finished with a 10-3 record for the second time in school history and the fourth time overall.
Mark Stoops entered his 11th season as head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats football team in 2023 with an overall record of 66-59 and a conference record of 32-50.
